ABOUT:
Briana Calhoun is an emerging artist with a tenet all her own. Raised in the small town of Farmerville, La., she is a teacher, mother, artist, songwriter, and champion for the underdog.
Calhoun’s unique songwriting style and story has caught the the ears of folks beyond Louisiana. In 2021, Calhoun filmed a documentary depicting her incredible journey as a former inmate in a Louisiana women’s prison with music legend Kix Brooks and host of the acclaimed “A Drop of Sunshine” podcast, Daphne Deloren Matheny.
Calhoun has written, recorded and performed with several award-winning songwriters and artists in Nashville. She recorded a six-song EP at the renowned Sound Kitchen Studios in Franklin, Tn. And, most recently, has been working with legendary producer and winner of the 2023 Album of the Year, Chip Matthews.
When she’s not busy being a mom and teaching, Briana can be found writing at some of the most renowned publishing houses in Nashville, playing at festivals, or performing for her favorite audiences in detention and correctional facilities across the Southeast.
