Tom Sless is, by all accounts, a storyteller.
“I don’t write things that are so surreal or conceptual for the sake of being conceptual. I try to ground every song in some kind of lived experience or lived emotion so that whatever concept I am writing about has a tangible connection to the world we live in. Or the world I live in, I guess. The world as I see it.”
Cut from the Dylan-Springsteen storytelling cloth and performed with Chris Stapleton energy, Sless’s musical aim, at its core, is to bring people together. “I don’t care as much for notoriety as I do one-on-one interactions,” he says. By pushing the boundaries of his own creativity, marrying clever and thoughtful lyrical and technical writing, and riding on the passion he has for live performance, the Americana-rocker creates a home for his music wherever he lands.
