JOIN US FOR FREE LIVE MUSIC WITH SIERRA GANT!!
Sierra was born in Waco, Texas & grew up in the Houston suburb of Spring. It was apparent almost from the very beginning that she had a special love for music, but she was also painfully shy. It took the support of her maternal grandmother Rose, who recognized that she had a naturally beautiful singing voice, to push through the fear & follow her older sister into community theatre. After a few productions, she found her footing & continued to perform throughout her middle school years.
The Houston, TX native started playing the local Texas Opry at the tender age of 11 while traveling around Texas as part of the Texas Showcase Singers & supporting local Radio Disney events. After making it to the finals of the “Best Country Singer in Houston” contest, she grabbed the attention of one of the judges who happened to be a local producer. Despite not winning the contest, he gave her recording time. Throughout middle school she would go on to be his in-house demo singer in exchange for the opportunity to do her own recordings.
Once she realized that there was more to music than just singing, she found a strong desire to learn everything she could about the songwriting process and the songwriters behind her favorite songs. She bought her first guitar at 17 with money she had earned recording demos & playing gigs. Around this time Sierra was invited to attend a songwriting industry camp, where she had the opportunity to hone her songwriting and recording skills with the support of music industry veterans. This was a transformative experience & planted the feeling that there were worlds more that she could learn from doing than she ever could from studying it in a textbook. After being selected to join the commercial voice program at Belmont University, she made the very difficult decision not to attend her dream school and instead spent the next year and a half working and saving all of her money in order to move to Music City to learn from seasoned songwriters.
No matter what else was happening in her life, Sierra has returned to Texas every summer to teach a summer musical theatre camp with her mother & sister. Since her experience with the music industry camp, she has been committed to do her part to pass on what she’s learned to those who are following the same path. Along the way, Sierra has built an amazing network of friends & supporters who have gone above & beyond to keep her on target.
